Hatta Honeybee Garden and Discovery Center was established in late 2018 under the stewardship of H.H. Engr. Salem Bin Sultan AlQasimi, a leading advocate for the preservation of honeybees and an active protagonist for promoting sustainable beekeeping in the UAE.

Surrounded by the towering Al-Hajar mountains and the mesmerizing native flora and fauna, Hatta Honeybee Garden and Discovery Center is the first specialized garden in the Middle East and North Africa that offers tours, workshops, and hands-on projects to help visitors discover the amazing world of honeybees. The bee sanctuary covers an area of 16,000 square meters and is home to hundreds of indigenous and exotic trees, such as Samar, Ghaf, and Sidr.

Since its inception, Hatta Honeybee Garden and Discovery Center has been at the forefront of educating thousands of visitors about the region’s rich history of beekeeping. It emphasizes the pivotal role that bees play as the world’s key contributors to the natural ecosystem. Understanding the importance of spreading this knowledge further, the center envisions expanding its mission to different geographical regions. By establishing additional sanctuaries and educational centers, Hatta Honeybee Garden aims to create a global network of institutions devoted to honeybee conservation and education. Through these endeavors, the center seeks to instill a deep appreciation for bees’ significance and inspire individuals worldwide to engage in planting trees, conducting research, and embracing sustainable beekeeping practices.

From the beginning, the OneHive Honey Bee Garden & Discovery Center has been a leader in the education of visitors regarding the region’s extensive history of beekeeping and the importance of the honey bee. We provide intriguing information about the role of honey bees as the globe’s crucial contributor to the natural ecosystem as well as the importance of preservation of the honey bee through the planting of trees, research, and the movement towards sustainable beekeeping.
